Team Purpose:

We are a group of adventure and endurance athletes that participate in many different but all very physically and mentally challenging activities.  We cover the entire planet looking for more extreme obstacles and challenges to overcome.  By pushing our bodies to the limits in the harshest of environments we learn what we truly can accomplish.  And of course we don’t go anywhere without our SOG Knife or Multitool.  These products have become a staple of our survival and continually prove to be a necessity that is used in even the most unexpected of situations.

Team Formation:

The team was formed through similar outdoor interests.  The original members started competing in 2008 under the sponsor Nature Cure.

We have since grown and switched sponsorships in September of 2009 to SOG Specialty Knives and Tools.

Team Interests:

Our athletes are interested in a variety of activities.  As long as it is challenging, fun, and allows us to push our limits.

Some athletes may focus on climbing or skiing but that doesn’t mean that they won’t compete in an adventure race or marathon as well and vice-versa.

Team Home:

The team meets twice a year in Ohiopyle, PA.  This is a great place for us to bond, train, and have a blast.  Ohiopyle is a small little town that attracts many visitors who come to enjoy the great outdoor experiences and beautiful scenery the town has to offer.

Team Results:

The Adventure Race Team just finished a very successful 2009 season.  They finished the season ranked 2nd in the USARA Rankings and 4th in the Checkpoint Tracker Rankings.  Brian Mayer also collected a Collegiate Adventure Race National Championship in 2009.

In 2008 the team finished 3rd in the Master’s Division at the USARA National Championship race in GA.  They also finished in the top 5 in both the USARA and CPTracker rankings.

Goals:

The team plans to continue pursuing what they love, testing their limits, limiting their impact and giving back to their supporters.  We also want to expose our athletes to new activities and cross them into other sports to make them more diverse and competitive.

In addition the Adventure Race Team has set goals on more elite National Rankings and also hopes to claim another National Championship in 2010.
